To Come လာ

လာ

This is our first word for you. It consists of 2 parts. The first part is a consonant လ with the sound /l/; and the second part is a vowel ာ /à/. Put together it is လာ /là/.

Myanmar has 3 basic tones:

  • The "low tone", လာ /là/ sounds similar to the sixth musical note 'lah', and is used in this recording, la la la tai, come and sit down.

  • The "creaky tone", လ  , without the vowel. It means moon.

  • The "high tone",လား , like 'laugh" without the final /f/ sound. It is made by combining လ and း .
Use this to transform a sentence into a 'yes or no' question.
